Roof Felt

Well, They got the roof felt up today, and just in time. It started raining right after they finished. The porch is supposed to go up tomorrow, weather and materials delivery permitting. They are supposed to wrap the house on Monday and start putting in windows and doors after that.

Roof, Day 3

It looks like they finished the roof today! The only thing left on the SIPS is a few pieces of end lumber and screws to hold it all together. They have rolls of felt on the roof that I assume will be going up as soon as they finish the previously mentioned minor details. It's really looking lika a house now! I guess now they finish the framing and get to the siding , roof and inside.

Caleb's 7th

Happy Birthday to Caleb! We went to Olive Garden to celebrate; that's where Caleb wanted to go. We went back to Grammy and Poppa's house and opened a few presents. Saturday, we're supposed to have cake and ice cream and the other 8 yards.

Roof, Day 2

They got the rest of the main house roof up, as well as the roof over the garage. Tomorrow they shouldn't have any trouble getting the roof up over the back bedrooms. Hopefully we won't get any rain.
It's really starting to take shape. It won't be long and we'll be moving in...

Roof, Day 1

Sorry for not posting last night, the internet was giving me trouble.
They got the back half of the main-house roof on. They probably would have got more on, but they had a little trouble with the engineer's plans, and took about two hours to figure out the right way to do it. Luckily, they figured it out and got everything going. We got there in time to see the last panel going up. I'll get some pictures of today's progress and post later. Hopefully they got quite a bit more done.

Roof Supports

It looks like they got all of the roof supports and ridge beams up today. I suppose they will start putting up roof panels on Monday (weather permitting). Once that is completed, I guess the SIPS assembly part of construction will be complete. They can then start wrapping and putting in windows and doors and then move on the inside details.I am excited to see progress, but it sure seems like it's taking longer than it should. I guess, like everything else in life, it won't seem so long once we finish and get moved in. Ten years from now, we will hardly remember the wait.

Ridge Beam

Today they got up the main ridge beam that supports the center of the roof. They also got the wedge boards down that the edges of the roof are secured to. They built the wall that is part of the ridge support over the boys' bedroom section of the house. With the sunny and clear weather tomorrow, they may get some of the roof up. It would be nice if the worked hard and got all of the roof up, but it seems that in the construction industry, Friday is half day...

SIPS Gable Panels

They finished the second-floor flooring. Then they put up the gable end panels. They are supposed to frame the inside walls and get the roof support beams up tomorrow. They also said they may have a few of the roof panels up tomorrow. I believe that the goal is to have the roof on by Friday. Then next week they can put up siding and build the porch and whatever else they need to do.

Second Floor Nearly Complete

They got all of the decking up on the second floor with the exception of about 2 feet across the front of the house. We had rain again, so they didn't get it all the way finished. Tomorrow they are supposed to finish the decking and start on the gable ends. If all goes well, we might see roof tomorrow!

Finished Second-Floor Floor

No pictures today, but I spoke with the foreman this afternoon and he said the upstairs floor should be finished today. He also said that they were on track to have the house completely dried in by the end of the week. When we were there, they had most of the floor up on the back of the house. They had the bridge up. And they were starting on the stuff around the edges. I think they were going to start putting down the decking so that they could start on the gable-end panels and roof tomorrow.

Second-Floor Floor Framing

They got the rest of the garage up today, and they started on the second-floor floor trusses. They got all of the trusses up over the garage and the front of the house. On Monday they are supposed to finish the floor and start on the roof. There are a couple of first-floor framing details they need to correct, but so far, I am happy with the progress.

First Floor Framing Day 2

They got most of the garage up today. They only lack the panels around the door and the header above the door. That should be done early tomorrow morning. All of the inside walls are framed on the first floor, with only a couple of minor changes that need to be made.
Tomorrow they are supposed to start on the second-floor floor trusses. They will hopefully finish that and be ready to put the roof on on Monday. Then the structure will be up!

First Floor Framing Day 1

With the rain, they didn't get a lot done today. They got the walls to the boys' bedrooms and bathroom framed. They also got the wall around the master suite framed. Then it rained for the rest of the day, and nothing else has happened.

First Floor SIPS Installation

The panels for the first floor were installed today. I believe tomorrow's plan is to frame the interior walls and get ready for the second floor trusses. It's all starting to come together. A long way to go, but it's coming along.

Finished Floor!

Well, they finished the floor, and layed out the rooms today. Apparently, they are going to work over the weekend moving panels from John's house to our house. When they finish that, John is going to teach the crew how to put up the SIPS and let them practice by putting up his garage. Then... They get to our house!

More Floor

They got the first floor framing completed today and the building inspector passed it. They started putting down the decking, but didn't get it finished. They got the dining room, kitchen, laundry room/pantry, and our bathroom decking done. They should have the rest of the floor done by noon tomorrow.

Floor

After what seems like another infinite break in progress, we finally have... well, progress.
The framing crew started installing the first floor framing today. They got a bit of it completed. They should be done tomorrow(?).
